Flight: The escaped peacocks ran amok in a school car park pecking at horrified teachers' cars

This is the moment three crazed peacocks got in a flap and ran amok in a school playground - before attacking teachers' cars.

The barmy birds escaped from a nearby animal farm park after they got spooked by high winds the previous night.

Staff and pupils at Broughton Junior School in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, ran for cover after the peacocks swooped into the playground during morning break time on Wednesday morning.

Bill: The trio flew around the unsuspecting teachers' cars before darting around the school's playing fields

Proud: The peacock rampage left passers-by running for cover

A member of staff said: 'It was pretty scary stuff.

'The children were just starting to go back into lessons when the peacocks suddenly appeared and were racing around the playground.

'Luckily we were able to get the children back into school. A few teachers tried to shoo the birds away but they turned on them and started pecking and scratching their cars.'

Landing: The peacock's large clawed feet make contact with a car roof to the distress of the vehicle's owner

Joyride: A second vehicle comes to the attention of the angry escaped bird

Freedom: The peacock's impressive plumage and wing span can be seen as the bird flies between vehicles

Landed: The peacock stretches out its claws before coming into land

Male peacock PeeWee and his two female companions failed to return to a farm park when they were let out into their pen on Tuesday night.

Park staff managed to catch the two female birds while PeeWee flew onto a roof until he was persuaded to join his two birds in the back of a truck.

Christine Goodley, secretary at the school, said: 'The children were absolutely enchanted because of the noise they made.'
